Wifi project at Kingsholm shortlisted for industry award
The stadium wifi project at Kingsholm, a joint venture between Landways and Gloucester Rugby, has been nominated for the Venue Technology Award in The Stadium Business Awards 2019.

Launched ahead of the 2018-19 season, supporters attending matches at Kingsholm can now access super-fast wifi at the stadium by downloading the new Gloucester Rugby app, developed in conjunction with Clock.

Gloucester Rugby CEO Stephen Vaughan expressed his delight at the nomination today:

“As a club, we are committed to providing the best experience for visitors to Kingsholm. We are delighted to be selected as a finalist for the Venue Technology Award as it shows we are making positive strides in the key area of using technology to engage with fans and visitors alike.

“We have numerous plans to further our use of the platform to improve and simplify all touchpoints with the club.”

Meanwhile, Landways’ CEO, Chris Smedley, commented:

“We are delighted to have been selected as a finalist for the Venue Technology Award. Our highly scalable digital infrastructure at Kingsholm is delivering market-leading levels of data connectivity and enabling Gloucester Rugby to deliver brand new services for fans as well as generating new revenue streams. We look forward to the awards event and meeting the five other nominees.”

Launched in 2010, The Stadium Business Awards are the first industry awards for the stadium sector, by the stadium sector.

Ian Nuttall, Founder, TheStadium Business said:

“The Stadium Business Awards are about recognising leadership, innovation and achievement in the delivery, operation and management of sport facilities globally. Since 2010 we have given awards to some of the top venues from around the world and this year will be no exception.

“Our expert panel have come up with an amazing short list of nominees for these categories and we think it’s going to be tough for our Judging Panel to choose who should win.
